PEATC
The (Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center) is Virginia’s federally designated Parent Center under special education law and has been since 1978. PEATC is also state-funded to provide direct support to families navigating special education and disability services. PEATC empowers families of children and young adults with disabilities to understand their rights and make informed decisions. It also supports professionals who serve these families in schools and communities.
PEATC offers:
- One-on-one assistance (phone, virtual, and in-person)
- Community office hours for additional in-person assistance
- Workshops, webinars, trainings (in person and virtual)
- Self-paced learning opportunities
- Hundreds of online resources, including toolkits, guides, template letters, factsheets, and more
All of PEATC’s services are confidential, accessible and free of charge!
